Taking their moniker from Celtic Frost's legendary debut "Morbid Tales" US death/thrash metal trio Nocturnal Fear still count German retro-thrash metal monuments such as Destruction, Kreator and Sodom as their biggest inspirations. Opening up with an intro culled from "Rambo" the record wastes no time in getting down to business. From the raspy shouts of session vocalist Devastator, the fist-pounding riffs of Chris Slavehunter to the militant drumming of Aggressor "Metal Of Honor" zeroes in on its target and lays waste to whatever is in the way. Their bulldozer approach, apt musical mastery and fist-pounding aggression are something to be admired. The production is solid and massive, while the artwork is thematically similar to their previous album. There isn't a lot in the way of variation but Nocturnal Fear aren't out to change the genre – only to instill its classic ways upon those who are not converted to their ways. Moribund continues to dig up their most solid underground acts, even though not all of them are as equally impressive. Nocturnal Fear certainly waste no time in doing their thing and getting out as quickly as possible. If war-inspired thrash is your thing, Nocturnal Fear is a sure bet.
