The Ordher, the strategic alliance between members of defunct Brazilian death metal heavyweights Rebaelliun and Nephasth, return with declaration of war in form of a new record and the recruiting of a new drummer to aid their cause. Founding duo Fabio Lentino (vocals/bass, ex-Nephasth) and Fabiano Penna Correa (rhythm/lead guitars, ex-Rebaelliun) share the majority of writing credits for this album, while new skinsman Cássio Canto easily outdoes his predecessor Mauricio Weimar. Compared to both Nephasth and Rebaelliun "Kill the Betrayers" has a backbone of German old school thrash in its guitar work especially. 'At One With Darkness' is great melodic minute long interlude that reminds of Rebaelliun's spooky 'The Flagellation Of Christ' in mood and atmosphere. Penna Correa's recognizable hellish leads/solos are the highlight of the record and add greatly to the diversity of this record while simultaneously giving each track a character of its own. 'Retaliation' is the closest the band come to matching Rebaelliun in sheer speed, composition and hellbent brutality. Once again self-produced and self-recorded at their El Diablo home studio in cooperation with Estudio 100 "Kill the Betrayers" comes with an excellent production, only the guitar tone misses definition and bite to be truly great. The drums sound too synthetic and triggered and in that sense The Ordher suffers the same fate as the later works of Krisiun. Artwork, design and lay-out by Marcelo HVC (Belphegor, Darkest Hate Warfront, Devian, Gorgoroth) are flawless and much better compared to their "Weaponize" debut. "Kill the Betrayers" is a definite step up from their debut and their third record will see The Ordher establishing itself as a veritable force in this genre.
