    Thus Spake Zarathustra ()

Wydane przez Witching Hour Productions/Code 7/Plastic Head DistributionRok wydania Kraj PolandNapisał Wouter8Komentarze (0)Xantotol - Thus Spake ZarathustraTaking its name from the 1883-1885 philosophical novel by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, and the classical companion piece composed by Richard Strauss, Polish proto-symphonic black metallers Xantotol finally see their piece of black metal history re-issued through the label that originally issued this EP in 1995 on tape. Comparable to the early works of Ancient Rites ("The Diabolical Serenades") and Samael ("Worship Him") Xantotol were on the earliest Polish black metal bands to integrate eerie keyboards. These keyboard parts, composed by Hermh, typically last around 1:40 before the actual song kicks in and all seem to come from one greater work. The production is typical for demos of the time, sounding somewhat muffled and lacking in range. The quality of these recordings is actually quite good, considering they've been gathering dust for over a decade, and Xantotol possibly were a band that never got the attention they deserved. With expanded and improved artwork Witching Hour Productions have done an admirable job giving these historical recordings a second lease on life. The only minor complaint is why they didn't bother to re-release "Liber Diabolus: 1991-1996" instead, which contains the band's entire recorded history.
