Despite hailing from Russia this band could easily fit on the roster of Sevared Records. Cephalic Impurity, who include Infected Guts vocalist Ivan, are inclined to follow the direction of similar sounding acts as Flesh Consumed, Gortuary and Human Mastication and add pretty much nothing of their own. The usual suspects are easy to line up: samples from unknown horror movies, breakdowns, gurgling low grunts and a triggered drum kit. While it certain doesn't lack as far as brutality is concerned "Perverted Surgical Concept" adheres to the lowest common denominators of the genre and takes them to the max. The performances on this album are certainly good enough, but Cephalic Impurity's disregard for conventional structure make this album no more than a 30 minute slam-death blur. As such there's little to recommend here and the album goes by in a whif without any real surprises or merits. Cephalic Impurity have the same problem as countrymates Katalepsy as they are so embroidened in their slam-death stylings that it leaves no space for the band to go anywhere else. Overall, a missed chance and a dire waste of potential in a scene already overcrowded by bands that care more about image than about songwriting.
