Rotterdam symphonic doom metal combo Officium Triste commemorate their 15 years anniversary with this compilation. Combining a new track ('No Hope'), with a re-recorded classic ('Divinity'), an acoustic take of 'My Charcoal Heart', a cover of Killing Joke's 'Love Like Blood' and all the tracks of their 1996 "Mountains Of Depressiveness" EP and 1998 split with Cold Mountain. Like previous Officium Triste material the interplay between piano and synthesizers, the growls and emotive clean vocals form the definite highlight of this record. Shape Of Despair and (early) Pantheist still are the biggest comparisons while Officium Triste maintain their ability to sound like no other. Overall "Charcoal Hearts" is a good stopgap release for this band until their new record hits the shelves.
