Now defunct Virginia death/thrashers Ripped Off Face independently released this debut album after releasing the "Disease and Medicate" EP in 2007. Taking their name from a track of Uphill Battle's 2002 self-titled album, it comes as no surprise that they mix the intensity and vocal styling of Uphill Battle with the no-holds-barred and politically charged lyrical content of Misery Index and add a dose of thrash for good measure. The 30 second intro 'This Is Not A Call to Arms' gives way to 'Purple Hearts' - a heartfelt anti-war track. The serene piano segment in 'Domestic Gauntlet' alternates the thrashing violence nicely. 'The Lioness' has a excellent guitar solo. 'Shallow End Of The Gene Pool' decries the political reaction when Hurricane Katarina hit New Orleans, Louisiana. 'Hymn To the Dismal Tide' reprises part of the album intro in its chorus and closes the album out on a high note. The album is available through digital distributor Metalhit.com and people who like Misery Index, Uphill Battle and more traditional forms of metalcore (before it became commercial and became a curse instead of a blessing) are highly advised to check to this act.
