Black/thrash metal from Russia that seems to be inspired by (early) Kreator. "Demonia" - released as a collaboration between two Russian labels - is sung entirely in Russian, but judging from the songtitles the topics of war and destruction are recurrent themes. The tempo is relatively low but Tiran compensates this by having excellent dynamics in their material. The performances are adequate without being groundbreaking and all of the material has a good groove that compensates the relatively low pace of this album. There isn't a great deal of variation to be found here, but this consistency can only be applauded s Tiran bring no outside influences into their furious black/thrash assault. The bass heavy production is muddy but surprisingly clear given the budgetary constraints of outfits like these are under. In fact, a mild comparison could be Metallica's "Kill Em All" record or the early albums by Kreator. The artwork, design and lay-out are good without being exceptional. Besides being an excellent exporter of death metal Russia's thrash metal scene is also on the way up. Tiran might not be the cream of the crop at this point, but "Demonia" is a good starting point for a band carving its way in the current retro-thrash scene.
