UK's long-standing death metallers Desecration continue to churn out relentless death metal despite fluxuating line-ups, label changes and continual evolving trends. Main composer and sole original member Ollie Jones, now sporting backing musicians from Extreme Noise Terror, has once again crafted a technically solid album detailing the scientific post-mortem procedures the deceased faces before being presented to its mourners. A theme similar to their previous record "The Process Of Decay", which detailed the various stages of decomposition the human cadaver went through once death sets in. After a relatively pointless intro, aptly called 'The Committal' Desecration blast through 10 tracks of their patented groovy death metal. The thorough researched lyrics of tracks as 'Silent Beneath Science', 'Dissecting the Departed' or 'Formaldehigh' carry additional depth and perspective, when considering that vocalist/guitarist Jones is a licensed and practicioning mortician, and thus place scientific fact and substance above sheer shock value. Sounding like "Tomb Of the Mutilated" era Cannibal Corpse and "Black to the Blind" era Vader with a notable English slant Desecration are amongst the oldest British extreme metal institutions together with monuments as Benediction, Bolt Thrower or Napalm Death. As with "The Process Of Decay" the production is solid, if not somewhat on the thin side, although both the guitar – and drum sound have improved compared to the band's earlier releases. The artwork, design and lay-out are the best Desecration have had to date, while being both macabre but tasteful. Inimitable in their sincerity and resolute in its brutality British gorehounds Desecration has once again delivered a top notch serving of pure uncompromising death metal that few can match.
