Released as a three disc digibook "Live Inferno" details Emperor's sold out reunion performances at Wacken Open Air (Germany) and Inferno Festival (Norway). The lion's share of this package goes oddly enough to the Wacken Open Air show, being presented in both CD as well as DVD format. The Inferno Festival - and Wacken Open Air audio companions are both exclusive to this release, seeing how the Wacken Open Air visuals were also released earlier as the "Live at Wacken Open Air 2006 – A Night Of Emperial Wrath" DVD. As with the earlier released DVD Emperor storms gloriously through a litany of their most acclaimed cuts from their opuses "In the Nightside Eclipse", "Anthems To the Welkin at Dusk", "IX Equilibrium" and the lone track from "Prometheus". The recording quality is outstanding and the band is in fine form in both the German as the Norwegian shows. Apparently exclusive to the band's hailed performance at the Inferno Festival is the inclusion of the title track of the band's 1992 "Wrath Of the Tyrant" demo. Emperor storms through their epic setlist with all the passion, gusto and finesse you'd expect from a seasoned act like them. The artwork, design and lay-out by Ritxi Ostariz are impeccable to say the least. The magnificent 24 page booklet is filled with high quality photographs from the band's performance at the Inferno Festival and detailed production notes. Once again it becomes clear why Emperor was the premier symphonic progressive black metal on the scene at the time. Their music has a timeless quality which will continue to grow with already impressive legacy. The Emperor is dead, long live the Emperor!
