The oddly named Purulent Jacuzzi – who hail from Moscow, Russia - debut on usual death metal label Soulflesh Collector Records and play goregrind in vein of Last Days Of Humanity, Hymen Holocaust, Foetopsy and Sikfuk. Filled with stale samples of horror – and porn flicks "Stench Of the Drowned Carrion" is a record that is solid in its own right but doesn't necessarily warrant any special mention outside of its established fanbase. The skill level is recommendable, the playing is tight enough and the gurgled, burping low grunted vocals adhere to the standards of the genre, but Purulent Jacuzzi isn't out to reinvent the wheel. The riffing is good enough but aren't very special, the drumming is straightforward and not very flashy. The production puts emphasis on the drums with a brick heavy guitar tone while the bass occasionally gets a moment to shine. The artwork, design and lay-out are pretty good without going for the usual gruesome gore photographs, instead opting for a more classic painted/digitalized approach. From the endless samples, the Carcass alike song titles and the general feeling of dementia and carcinoma that permeates from this album "Stench Of the Drowned Carrion" is what its title promises: a reeking and virulent mass of burnt decay. With 29 tracks (including a forgettable intro and outro) Purulent Jacuzzi continue in the bloodswathed trail of Last Days Of Humanity, Hymen Holocaust and (early) Carcass. It is far from sophisticated and even isn't very mentionworthy but Purulent Jacuzzi deliver a great slab of demented goregrind that is highly entertaining in its display for savage butchery.
