Brazil has always been special to the death metal scene. From the earlier releases of Sarcofago and Sepultura to late '90s exports such as Abhorrence, Krisiun, Mental Horror or Rebaelliun South America has always been integral to the genre's evolution. Vomepotro is a relatively new act that plays a more traditional form of the genre. Death metal from Sao Paulo, Brazil that sounds like "Tomb Of the Mutilated" era Cannibal Corpse with a hint of today's more technical acts. The leads/solos and prominent bass lines especially give Vomepotro a semi-classic feel. This is quite similar to other Sevared Records artists such as Flesh Consumed and Gortuary, although Vomepotro seem to more inspired by the early '90s in sound, concept and delivery. There isn't a whole lot that differentiates Vomepotro from their labelmates besides that their music is slightly more varied. The deep vocals are reminiscent of acts such as Disgorge (either the American or the Mexican). The ghoulish gore artwork was created by the unavoidable Jon Zig (Brutus, Deeds Of Flesh, Severed Savior) and the production is thick and meaty with a booming low end groove. Still, by and far, this is no second coming of the classic '90s death metal sound although Vomepotro have clearly the skill to pull off such an album. Two covers conclude the album, being Sepultura's early classic 'Mass Hypnosis' and a demo recording of Morbid Angel's groove anthem 'Dominate'. Not the most amazing thing to come out of Brazil, but they certainly have a charm about their ruthless approach.
