Roncali, Lombardy (Italy) based one-man black metal project Ars Manifestia return with another album after 2007's "The Enchanting Dark's Arrival". Clocking a grand 70 minutes "The Red Behind" is Ars Manifestia's most ambitious record to date. Most tracks have an average duration around 7 to 9 minutes with 'Diversity' clocking 12 minutes and 'Ogni Cosa Scompare' even lasting a full 20 minutes. "The Shadowthrone" and "Nemesis Divina" era Satyricon still seems to be the major inspiration here. The folk melodies have been pushed to the back compared to "The Enchanting Dark's Arrival" and the increased levels of brutality make "The Red Behind" a much more menacing affair. Vocally, sole member Harmful copies Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven's style to frightening detail and his demonic wails and moans remind exactly why (early) Satyricon were the best in their genre. The production is somewhat sounding like a glorified demo, akin to Enthroned's "Regie Sathanas" EP but with a much prominent tone for the bass guitar. Overall, "The Red Behind" sees Ars Manifestia shedding some its Satyricon worshipping and going for a more direct and vicious assault.
