Stockholm, Sweden's Bibleblack is an all-star band of sorts. Featuring members from Abstrakt Algebra, King Diamond, Memory Garden and Ruin "The Black Swan Epilogue" is an epic exercise in extreme metal that is almost cinematic in approach. The basis for "The Black Swan Epilogue" is a technical variant of power metal. Enhanced by lush tapestries of enchanting synthesizers and keyboards, gruff emotive vocals by Kacper Rozanski and the brutal drumming by Tobhias Ljund Bibleblack become more than a sum of its parts. The riffing is quite technical and straightforward in an old school thrash metal sense. On one hand Bibleblack plays a very traditional sort of metal while its production and additional instrumentation add to its contemporary feeling. In its more orchestral parts Greek dark metal band Septic Flesh could be a comparison. A number of guest vocalists also feature on this record, including Ronny Hemlin (Steel Attack, Tad Morose), Kristian Andrén (Memento Mori) and Matthias Ljung (Hearse) whose presence is giving this record a classic doom metal feeling. The album was mixed by Fredrik Groth (Storyteller) and features outstanding artwork by Hjules (Annihilator, Grave Digger). Bibleblack have certainly written an interesting piece of music with their debut, hopefully they will be able to expand on the foundation that is laid with this disc.
