Abstract and semi-melodic technical death metal that combines strengths of (early) At the Gates, Cynic, (later) Death and (early) Callenish Circle. Fragments Of Unbecoming vocalist Sam Anetzberger is perhaps Dead Eyed Sleeper's most commonly known member alongside Ahab members Stephan Wandernoth (guitars) and Corny Althammer (drums). Generally speaking, this is technical death metal in the old school tradition of Death and bands of silimar ilk. The use of slow sections and violin work also permeates a feeling of (early) My Dying Bride while the doom never actually dominates. In its use of somber melody and acoustics there's also a slight Novembers Doom influence. Dead Eyed Sleeper is certainly a band consisting of very instrumentally gifted players, but the band's tendency to include so many influences in its music make it at times hard to follow. Recorded at Supernova Space Explosion Studios "Through Forests Of Nonentities" comes with a pristine production that displays the myriad details of this band's layered tracks. Drums recorded by C. Brandes at Iguana Studios (Deadborn, Necrophagist). The CD will also be released as a noble collectors edition in a special woodbox limited to 300 numbered copies.
