On their fifth album Swedish death 'n roll combo Hearse prove just why they are the best this genre has to offer. "Single Ticket to Paradise" was produced by Dan Swanö and comes with a pristine and crystal clear production that is retaining enough of the dirty vibe to appeal to the rock 'n roll part of the equation. The album title is a great little pun to British glam rockers The Darkness. Johan Liiva Axelsson (ex-Arch Enemy) is his usual charismatic self behind the microphone. His caustic vocal delivery, consisting of grunts, screams and roars, make this record worthy of any early Arch Enemy fan. Mattias Ljung is the true star of this ensemble with his frantic melodic leads and screaming neo-classical riffs. Max Thornell is serviceable behind the drum kit laying down beats that are both classic death metal fare and groovy heavy rock oriented. "Single Ticket to Paradise" effectively combines the best of death metal's characteristic brutality with the party vibe of classic heavy rock acts such as vintage Guns N Roses, AC/DC and Motörhead. This is what mid era Entombed should have been, around the time of their "Wolverine Blues" and "To Ride, Shoot Straight And Speak The Truth" albums. Produced by Dan Swanö (Hail Of Bullets, Opeth, Katatonia) "Single Ticket to Paradise" comes with a massive production. The stunning artwork complete the picture, making Hearse one, if not the primary purveyor of the genre.
