Swedish high speed black metal with death/thrash tendencies from Zwijndrecht, South Holland that sounds as a mix between “Heaven Shall Burn…” era Marduk and “Storm Of the Light’s Bane” era Dissection or “Thy Black Destiny” era Sacramentum with a better production and more natural flowing songs. The Dutch sung ‘Pad der Verdoemenis’ (‘Path of Damnation’) even has a slight Viking metal atmosphere with its male choirs and typical Scandinavian melodies. ‘Penetration Of Innocence’ starts and concludes with the expected porn sample, a silly (and now tired) gimmick that was introduced by US death metallers Lividity and continues to persevere in the underground. All involved are capable musicians and “Razor” sounds a lot more mature for it. Like its inspirations Onheil present a far more sophisticated and technically refined offshoot of Swedish black metal. The only downside on the otherwise very serviceable record is the rather unspectacular digital artwork. Recorded at Final Focus Studios and produced by Bart Hennephof (Textures, Brutus) and Yuma van Eekelen (The New Dominion) “Razor” can easily compete with any major band on the scene today.
