Success Will Write Apocalypse Across the Sky (SWWAATS) is Nuclear Blast's latest addition to their expanding death metal artist roster. Featuring members from Dehumanized and Bodies In the Gears Of the Apparatus "The Grand Partition and the Abrogation of Idolatry" is a fierce slab of grinding, technically proficient death metal by these Tampa, Florida extremists. Combining the chunkiness of classic Cannibal Corpse with with intensity of Misery Index (circa "Retaliate"), the groove of Skinless and the technical finesse of Suffocation SWWAATS have something for everybody. With 13 track and just over half an hour of music this record might just be a too much to take in at once. Still, SWWAATS have delivered an admirable debut for their new label and one that will be sure to establish their name in the scene, both in Europe as in North America. The studio drums on "The Grand Partition and the Abrogation of Idolatry" were performed by Mike Heller of Malignancy. The production by James Murphy (Death, Disincarnate, Obituary) is amazing in its clarity, depth and range giving each instrument enough space while never doing any concessions in its heaviness. With clean and spooky looking artwork to boot there isn't a whole lot that this band does wrong. Nuclear Blast Records is once again establishing itself in the death metal scene.
