On their second album for Century Media Records Swedish thrashing death/black metal combo Devian sound notably more together, violent and focused than on their impressive debut "Ninewinged Serpent". Despite being released only a year after the debut this new record sees Devian becoming more together in playing, while upping another notch as far as brutality is concerned. Increasingly more straightforward, venomous and brutal "God To the Ill-Fated" is enriched by archetypical Swedish melodies, which link this act to classic bands such as Necrophobic, Soulreaper or Sacramentum. Compared to their debut the death metal influences have increased sufficiently. Emil Dragutinovic lays down a dense foundation with his impressive drum work, while singer Legion uses a wide array of vocals next to his recognizable demonic rasp, which tracks as 'Saintbleeder' convincingly prove. Recorded at Art Decay Studio with Rickard Kottelin (Marduk, Panchrysia, Withershin) and vocal production at Abyss Studios with Peter Tägtgren combined with a high quality mastering job by Peter In de Betou at Tailor Maid Productions (Dark Tranquillity, Dimmu Borgir, Meshuggah) "God To the Ill-Fated" has a truly superb sounding and massive production. Once again blessed with stunning artwork by Septic Flesh mainman Seth Siro Anton (Belphegor, Exodus, Moonspell, Paradise Lost) "God To the Ill-Fated" proves that Devian has the staying power and perseverance to become a truly remarkable entity in its genre.
