    Requiem For the Inexorable ()

Their brand of highly technical top speed death metal reminds of "None So Vile" era Cryptopsy, Monstrosity (the monolithic slower sections) and "King Of All Kings" era Hate Eternal with Steve Tucker (ex-Morbid Angel) like vocals. The vocals are split between Josh Albright and drummer Kevin Hedgecock. The majority of the material is mostly played ridiculously fast, but well placed midtempo sections break up the assault nicely. The dexterity, endurance and skill to play this sort of demanding and difficult material at this speed makes Malebolgia an act to keep an eye on. Provided that they trim their future material and add a few more dark midtempo sections and flesh out their chaotic sounding leads/solos they really will be onto something special. The production is solid in both its range, depth and clarity with enough room for the meaty bass guitar and drum kit. Although the sound for the drum kit isn't the best, especially the bass drums. The artwork by Tim Knouff & Camille Ezzell is just plain ugly no matter how you look at it. With artists such as Wes Benscoter, Raymond Swanland, Seth Siro Anton, Graal or Jacek Wisniewski around it remains a question why Comatose Music didn't bother to upgrade the artwork for this release. Overall "Requiem For the Inexorable" holds a lot of promise for Malebolgia, but it remains to be seen whether the band is able to back up this impressive debut.
