A lot hasn't changed since 2006's "Swarm!" or their debut "For Maggots to Devour". Still the band produces high standard chugging mid-tempo death metal, reminiscent of Asphyx (although not nearly as hateful), Bolt Thrower, (early) Death, Grave and Unleashed. The material on this record is solid and catchy through out, but not very exceptional at that. Still, Torture Killer is miles ahead and shoulders above of its more popular inspirations Six Feet Under in about every way. Guitarists Jari Laine and Tuomas Karppinen still manage to deliver a steady amount of killer groove riffs while keeping the tempo at a suffocating midpace. Singer Juri Sallinen has a fittingly deep voice, but his choice of vocal lines isn't nearly as memorable as his predecessor Barnes. Tuomo Latvala (drums) work behind the kit is of a wholly different and more captivating league than Six Feet Under's skinsman Greg Gall. The artwork, design and lay-out by the revered Wes Benscoter are amazing and completely fit the old school package delivered here. Once again recorded at Popstudio, Loimaa (Finland) "Sewers" comes with a pristine and massive production that this genre needs. Torture Killer aren't here to reinvent the genre, but what they do, they do well.
