In their endless benevolence metal giant Century Media Records have compiled the early works of pioneering Swedish death metal stalwarts Unleashed in a mesmeric collector's box, which was aptly named "Immortal Glory (the complete Century Media years)". Although, strictly limited to 2000 copies "Immortal Glory" is a feast for old school death metal fanatics with its lush lay-out and truly impeccable content of no less than 10 discs. Containing the band's 7 studio albums (of which the first 4 are truly mandatory) , two great sounding live albums with 1993's "Live In Vienna" and 1996's "Eastern Blood – Hail to Poland" plus a bonus cd called "The Halls Of Asgaard" this is truly for die-hard fans of the band. Like genre pillars Obituary, Incantation or Vader, it becomes clear - whereas the band's lyrics have shifted more towards Norse mythology and Viking heritage later in their carreer - how little Unleashed has deviated from its tried-and-true musical formula and how fresh most of the band's material still sounds after more than a decade since its original release. Tracks as 'Before the Creation Of Time', 'If They Had Eyes' and 'Into Glory Ride' from Unleashed's classic 1991 debut "Where No Life Dwells" still sound as invigorating and exciting today as they did then, the same can be said of 'Onward into Countless Battles', 'The Final Silence' and 'The Immortals' of their 1992 album "Shadows In the Deep". With Unleashed now being two albums deep into their SPV catalogue, it's clear that Century Media Records is taking the opportunity to relish in the renewed interest in the band, which would explain why this comes after their earlier released Unleashed retrospective album "Viking Raids 1991-2004". With this collector's box it becomes clear that classic death metal is truly timeless in essence.
