Originally released independently by the band on a limited number of 500 copies Northern Silence Productions is now re-releasing "From the Throne Of Hate" with upgraded artwork plus two exclusive bonus tracks. Compared to the band's first two records (2002's "Son Of the Shades" and 1998's "Into the Dark Forest") this third album is more straightforward Scandinavian black metal that is heavy on medieval atmosphere and full of majestic power. The ambient that was present on the first two albums is now reduced to the occasional use of haunting synthesizers and keyboards. The demonic rasps that feature through out this album are spooky to say the least. Where the first two records features vocals rarely its great finally hearing Elffor. "From the Throne Of Hate" gloriously recounts many Middle Age themes, fantasy stories and epic black metal á la Summoning or Kinstrife & Blood. While nowhere as accomplished in its songwriting and arrangements as Summoning the record flows nicely, although it hardly is adventurous in its direction or execution. The production is expectedly thin but reasonably well compared to other underground black metal albums. If you can't get enough of Summoning, this is a band to look into - but don't expect to be blown away.
