With retro - an modern thrash metal experiencing a revival on both sides of the Atlantic labels are falling over themselves to sign any band from these genres. Abstract Rapture is band that plays melodic thrash/groove metal with furious vocals like Meshuggah and gentler singing alike to Metallica's James Hetfield. Like their inspirations Machine Head and Max Cavalera-era Sepultura "Democadencia" is full of memorable vocal hooks, crushing breakdowns and headbang inducing groove sections that can compete with the best in this genre. While the singing and riffing is of the "Chaos AD" era Sepultura and "Burn My Eyes"/"The More Things Change" era Machine Head, the drumming and general delivery has the feel of France's Gojira or Scarve without sounding quite as mammoth like. The delivery is convincing and angry while the pace remains high through out the entirety of the record. The only thing amiss on this record is a signature or stand out track that would truly elevate this record from being plain good to being great. Recorded at TidalWave Studio and mastered at 24-96 Mastering the album comes with pristine sounding production that gives each instrument its required space without doing any concessions as far as heaviness or clarity is concerned. As things stand now "Democadencia" is a promising and punishing affair that could establish Abstract Rapture as a future contender in the thrash/groove metal scene.
