On their third record Belgian black/thrashers Demonizer further explore the direction hinted on their second record "The Essence Of War". Further distancing themselves from the old school German thrash metal that was prevalent on their 2003 debut "Thrashing Force... Attack" this Belgian act now embraces their Scandinavian black metal influences fully. Where their previous album had them operating as a combination of Destruction and Gorgoroth, "Triumphator" sees Demonizer fleshing out their black metal side and destroying everything in the process. In essence Demonizer has always been as much black metal as they were thrash metal, but it is not until this record that the band has really shown this. The material on this record is uncompromising, cold sounding black metal that owns much to its Scandinavian ancestors. Like all long-standing black metal acts Demonizer know when to slow down and vary up their relentless attack. The delivery is fiery and convincing, the members of Demonizer are apt at their instruments and know how to write an engaging song. The production (which is similar to Enthroned's earlier outings) is fitting of this kind of chaotic and bestial sounding war-like black metal. "Triumphator" was recorded at Shumcot Studio, Belgium with up-and-coming producer/engineer Reinier Schenk and mixed & mastered at the famed Necromorbus Studio (Averse Sefira, Nominon, Watain) in Sweden by Tore Stjerna in October 2007. Guestvocals on this album by Noctiz (Paragon Impure, Lugubrum, ...) and Nornagest (Enthroned). Demonizer has fluently changed directions over the last two albums, now it remains to be seen whether they will be able to follow up this amazing offering in the future.
