    ...Of Frost and War ()

Wydane przez Metal Blade RecordsRok wydania Kraj HollandNapisał Wouter8Komentarze (0)Hail Of Bullets - ...Of Frost and WarBringing together the most prominent members of the Dutch old school death metal scene Hail Of Bullets is truly worth the name super-group and the Dutch answer to Swedish bands like Bloodbath. Featuring members from Asphyx, Gorefest, Pestilence and Thanatos "Of Frost and War" is a call to arms for old school death metal fanatics. "...Of Frost and War" is a free-form concept about German - Soviet war (1941 - 1945), dealing with the so called German operation Barbarossa and the reciprocal Soviet offensive after Stalingrad. The album features 8 new tracks and 4 re-recorded cuts of their 2007 demo. The material is crunchy with solid contributions from all members, the riffing by Thanatos duo Stephan Gebedi and Paul Baayens is savage with a doom – and thrash metal undertone, bassist Theo van Eekelen provides a more than serviceable low end rumble while Gorefest drummer Ed Warby delivers his most passionate work behind the kit to date. The inimitable Martin van Drunen (Asphyx, ex-Pestilence) is his usual self with his recognizable tortured screams and wailing grunts. As the legacy of its members implies the material here of the old school variety: doomy midpaced death metal with an oppressing dark atmosphere and constant pumping groove. The album was recorded at Excess Studios, Rotterdam with engineer Hans Pieters giving the album a bone-heavy production that reserves enough individual space for each instrument while giving the whole a heavy, wide-range but clear sounding production. "...Frost and War" was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö (Demiurg, Edge Of Sanity, Infestdead) at Unisound Studios in Orebro, Sweden. For all intents and purposes, "...Of Frost and War" is probably the best pure death metal album to come out of the Dutch underground in recent years.
