    Morphed From Deadbreath ()

Wydane przez Xtreem MusicRok wydania Kraj Spain/SwedenNapisał Wouter7Komentarze (0)Putrevore - Morphed From DeadbreathThe pairing of Dave Rotten (Avulsed, Christ Denied) with the ever prolific Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, Ribspreader) has resulted in a great little throwback death metal album that is both modern and old school in approach. Like their contemporaries in Bloodbath, Death Breath or Hail Of Bullets this Spanish-Swedish co-operation retains the groove of classic European death metal while integrating the blasting fury of its American counterpart. Rotten’s monstrous gurgled vocals combined with Johansson’s trademark swamp riffing that owe as much to Unleashed, Morbid Angel as (early) Death or Autopsy give “Morphed From Deadbreath” both the darkness and songwriting finesse usually reserved for veterans of this genre. The material on this record is both on the gutwrenching groove – as well as the blasting territory of the genre, the best tracks of this album combine both aspects in a good flowing whole. The session drumming by David Ekevarn give “Morphed From Deadbreath” the its semi-modern sounding edge, sounding like Cannibal Corpse, circa “Tomb Of the Mutilated”. The production is expectedly rough with a murky guitar tone, booming bass lines and a muddy drum tone. For once, the production actually fits the music as it gives Putrevore the dirty vibe of an early Entombed or Unleashed record. The macabre artwork, design and lay-out add greatly to the dark atmosphere present on this album. Fans of Asphyx, Dead Congregation, Drawn and Quartered, (early) Grave, (early) Immolation and/or Incantation will enjoy this highly. Superb old school dark death metal with an all encompassing evil atmosphere.
