Sudden Death Syndrome ()

Oriental doom-fused dark metal with the synthesizer work and somberly romantic atmosphere similar to Shape Of Despair, and (early) My Dying Bride riffing. Sounding like a mix between Cadaveria-fronted Opera IX, (early) Opeth and Switzerland's Alastis ("The Other Side"). After a tasteful compact Oriental intro, the record opens with 'Blooded Forest', an impressive 17 minute opus of incredible magnitude. Filled with dreamy keyboard lines, structured riffing, carefully arranged piano work, well-placed leads/soli and minimal drumming Bilocate are able to immediately draw the listener into their work. Like Israel's The Knell this band is able to their semi-melodic doom metal sound to new and exciting territory while remaining strictly within the subgenre's perimeters. Vocally, Bilocate use the genre typical elements of grunts and spoken/whispered vocals. 'The Dead Sea' is more accessible and straightforward compared to its predecessor, blending melodic piano lines with Oriental riffing, heroic leads/soli and more prominent drumming. Overall, "Sudden Death Syndrome" is a strong and varied dark metal album that combines Bilocate's oriental roots with a wealthy sound that will appeal to an international audience. The album was recorded at a number of studios, including Phexagon Studio, Jordan and In The Mix Studio, Dubai (United Arab Emirates). Co-produced, mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren in Fascination Street Studio, Sweden (Opeth, Katatonia, Bloodbath, Amon Amarth, Symphony X). The high class artwork, design and lay-out - which is slightly reminding of Keep Of Kalessin's masterpiece "Armada" - were provided by Dennis Sibeijn. The scene in the Middle East is blossoming and Bilocate are one of the most promising forerunners in their genre.
