    Devotion To Unholy Creed ()

Wydane przez Pulverised Records/Zyklon-B Productions/Atolinga RecordsRok wydania Kraj GreeceNapisał Wouter6Komentarze (0)Burial Hordes - Devotion To Unholy CreedGreece has always been a fertile breeding ground for both traditional and more melodic black metal acts. Rotting Christ, Septicflesh and Varathron are the various veterans of this genre. Burial Hordes was formed in 2001 and now release their second album. On "Devotion To Unholy Creed" this Athens-based unit brings old school black metal in the vein of (early) Bathory, "Morbid Tales" era Celtic Frost, (early) Enthroned and Zemial. Follow-up to their 2006 debut "War, Revenge & Total Annihilation". The pace is high and the band does not let up through the entirety of the album. While the material is ferocious it also suffers from semblance towards the second half of the record. There's a traditional punk styled looseness and barbaric urgency to most of the material on this record. It's this that gives Burial Hordes a slight Finnish vibe. 'God's Cutthroat' starts out with a theatrical and dramatic male monk vocal. Basement bargain production with sloppy sounding drums, dominating bass tones and razorsharp guitar tone. Artwork is reminiscent of Erick Neyra (Goat Semen) or Chris "Thorncross" Moyen. Burial Hordes are on to something with this record. If they manage to further tighten up their performance, hone their technique and write more individual song material, they will be able to become a new force in this genre.
