Fourth album by melancholic one-man black metal project from Lithuania bearing a strikingly Norwegian moniker meaning black throne. No longer featuring buxom vixen Namira as bassist/keyboardist in the line-up the music remains very strong and convincing. Midtempo black metal with harsh vocals, doom like long drawn out leads/solos and soothing acoustic sections. Vocals on this record were provided by Mordance from Paroxysmal Descent. Closing track ‘Dreams In Ashes’ the band’s tour-de-force with solemn spoken vocals, sparse melodies on the guitars and soft keyboards that wash over the listener. Amazing artwork, design and lay-out by composer/sole member Tomhet. The cover art in particular reminds of the later Novembers Doom artworks. Logo by revered genre artist Christophe Szpajdel (Emperor, Horna, Tsjuder, etc). Production is very good with a heavy emphasis on the string instruments, namely the guitars and the bass. The drums tend to sound a bit naked at times, but this can easily be overlooked since they are produced so well otherwise. Two different versions will be available, limited digipack (6 panel) and regular jewel case. Excellent bleak and depressive black metal in the vein of genre veterans Shining, Silencer and Forgotten Tomb, etc.
