    Satanism Sickness Solitude ()

Wydane przez Spikefarm RecordsRok wydania Kraj BelarusNapisał Wouter7Komentarze (0)Sick - Satanism Sickness SolitudeBelarus' three piece Sick play an semi-industrial form of cold Scandinavian black metal with mechanical riffing, dreamy keyboard sequences that remind of Khold, sampling and programmed sounding drums that would fit with Gary Numan or Depeche Mode. The material is mostly midpaced with a strong doom metal atmosphere and dramatic vocals. "Satanism Sickness Solitude" is a unique piece of music that defies general classification and breathes an atmosphere of alienation and isolation. Like latter day Samael this act relies heavily on the electronic aspect of their compositions. But whereas Samael has used its electronics in a more accessible fasion, Sick use them to add another layer of complexity to their already dense material. The instrumental cut 'Emptiness' is perfect example of Sick's ability to write a dark take on the electronic genre Enigma popularized it the mid-nineties. All three musicians are apt at their respective instruments, especially vocalist Voice Of God who easily goes from theatrical spoken word to eerie black metal rasps and everything in between. The production is quasi similar to Nine Inch Nails' "The Downward Spiral" and this record holds a similar amount of aggression and despair through out. The artwork and design are similar to The Amenta's new album "nOn" and adds great to the otherworldly feeling that this record permeates. Of note is also the cover of Portishead's 'Wandering Star', a band that isn't normally covered by a metal band. By all means, an interesting and hard to digest slab of electronics and black metal.
