Wydane przez Metal Blade RecordsRok wydania Kraj USANapisał Wouter8In order to hold fans and supporters over until their next studio outing US death metal veterans Cannibal Corpse have compiled this very interesting and thorough triple DVD set. The first disc documents the lengthy and storied history of the band from their small beginnings to their current status as leader in the scene they helped form and shape. Talking to various people close to the band including label representatives, booking agents, ex-roadies, producers, supporters, band members (both current and former), friends, family and fellow touring bands Cannibal Corpse’s history is recounted in significant detail from their early demo days all the way up their latest and critically acclaimed studio album "Kill". This definitive and comprehensive band history comes in two segments, capturing the Chris Barnes - and George Fisher (ex-Monstrosity) years and lasts for a full three hours. This is essentially a who’s-who of the American and international extreme (death) metal scene as it features prominent members from The Black Dahlia Murder, Cattle Decapitation, Cynic, Dark Angel, Deeds Of Flesh, Eulogy, Fear Factory, Goatwhore, Hate Eternal, Iced Earth, Immolation, Kataklysm, Malevolent Creation, Monstrosity, Nevermore, Nile, Obituary, The Red Chord, Trivium, etc. The second disc captures the band in all their expected intensity in the live arena, proving as to why Cannibal Corpse are still the undisputed leaders in this genre, alongside Incantation, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Suffocation and Vader. The various setlists of this live record (including sets at With Full Force 2007, Toronto 2006, Party San 2005, New York 2000, Jacksonville 1996, Nashville 1994 and Buffalo 1989) form a good representative cross-section of the band’s various high marks in their prolific career including all the early classics as well as the latest slabs of their patented blood-soaked repertoire. These sets are captured in an energetic fashion with multiple cameras and are neatly edited. Another interesting feature comprising the entirety of the third disc is the compilation of all the band’s promotional videos to date. Of note are also the various compact segments about artwork controversy, bans, tattoos, band merchandise, life on the road, lyrical concepts and the fan-made short movie "Kill Crane". "Centuries Of Torment : The First 20 Years" comes with the expected high quality gruesome artwork and ghoulish design by Cannibal Corpse regular Vincent Locke. With comprehensive retrospective DVDs as The Berzerker’s highly regarded "The Principles and Practices Of...", Amon Amarth’s superb "Wrath Of the Norsemen" and this one the bar has been raised significantly for metal DVDs in general. Morbid Angel and Suffocation have a lot to live up to when their long awaited DVDs hit the shelves.
