    Pleasures Of the Scalpel ()

Wydane przez Metalhit.comRok wydania Kraj USANapisał Wouter7Komentarze (0)Fetid Zombie - Pleasures Of the ScalpelThis is the debut record of US one-man grindcore project Fetid Zombie, whose primary influences are (early) Carcass, (early) Napalm Death and General Surgery. The man behind the project is underground artist Mark Riddick. Mark Riddick is mostly known for his extensive gruesome artwork, that has made its way onto album covers, posters and T shirts of many well and not so well known bands in the the underground. As expected Fetid Zombie uses a drum computer and heavily pitch-shifted vocals. Overall, the drum computer makes this sound like (early) Mortician, although the guitar work is far more technical and varied compared to that band. For underground grind terms the guitar work is fairly intricate with multiple chaotic leads and eerie harmonies and interesting audible bass lines. The production are a bit typical for this kind of product, as the guitars sound too thin and the drum computer is expectedly sterile sounding. The pitch-shifted vocals, technical guitar work, adventurous bass lines and relatively interesting song structures make up for the somewhat shoddy production job. Riddick has provided the artwork for this album himself and once again he has outdone himself creating a stunning visual counterpart to this aural piece of morbidity. “Pleasures Of the Scalpel” includes guest appearances by members of Arsis, Loculus and Unburied. The album also comes with an unrelenting interpretation of Nunslaughter’s ‘Raid the Convent’. This will appeal to fans of Blood Freak, General Surgery, Haemorrhage and Impetigo. Excellent old school grind.
