    Vagrant Matter Heritage (ep)

Wydane przez Krudd Promotion/Twilight 13 MediaRok wydania Kraj RomaniaNapisał Wouter8Komentarze (0)Satanochio - Vagrant Matter HeritageA decidedly apocalyptic intro of abstract semi-industrial and ambient soundscapes opens "Vagrant Matter Heritage". Romanian masked trio Satanochio produce bombastic, threatrical avant-garde black metal much like (early) Sigh and Emperor. The thick riffing is quite death metal alike in tone and the band's mostly mid-tempo paced assault and distinct chord progressions adds a certain Gojira like progressive charm to the EP. The addition of tasteful ambient soundscapes and semi-industrial bits also enhances the listening experience greatly. 'Inward the Fairy' the last track of this EP showcases these features rather brilliantly while also being the fastest track of the record. Besides the dramatic vocals of frontman Satanochio the unexpected blastbeat centered conclusion. 'The National John Doe' is especially reliant on the band's more progressive and dramatic tendencies. 'Everything Dies' - the EPs opening track - is more basic in approach yet already maps out what the band has in store for the next 2 tracks. The bass-heavy production is considerably good, although the drums sound a bit hollow and powerless. The guitar tone is clear enough but doesn't really hold a bit of punch or bite. Artwork, design and lay-out by Costin Chioreanu is fitting for a progressive, bombastic and threatrical act such as this as his work reminds of those old film posters of the '50s and '60s. Given that Satanochio get a respectable label to back them financially they might become one of the genre's most exciting new bands.
