On their first official DVD Romanian avant-garde black metallers compile all their official videos, a photo gallery, a making-of documentary and the first ever Satanochio interview. The band's videos, primarily taken from their earlier releases, differ wildly in style: going from performance videos to more horror oriented cuts and archetypical black metal videos featuring desolate woods and abandoned ruins. Every video is done with incredible expertise and if it weren't for the obviously low production values these videos could be from any band backed by a big label. The interview gives an interesting insight into the band, its inspirations and the personalities of its various members. Although, the spelling and grammatical mistakes in the subtitles and DVD credits take away from the professionalism of the rest of this product. The photo gallery contains various photos from the video shoots and some random pictures not seen anywhere else. The making-of documentary consists mostly of the band joking around while shooting this DVD and spewing profanity in its native tongue. Again, the translated subtitles show spelling and grammatical errors. The artwork, design and lay-out are all good but not spectacular. It's good to see the early '90s artwork making a return, yet the printing quality leaves a lot to be desired on the promotional copy of this DVD. Overall, "Dark Visions From the Fog" is a neat little DVD that gives an interesting insight into Romania's most popular underground avant-garde black metal acts. Be sure to check it out if you have the chance.
