Featuring the bassist/vocalist of Unholy Storm this act presents a more atmospheric and sophisticated take on the traditional black metal genre. In comparison to Unholy Storm the material here is mostly midpaced with good solid riffing, haunting minimal synthesizers and interesting work behind the drum kit. Most songs take their time to build momentum and this results in “Iter Lethalis” being an engaging listen. Actually, this is a technically proficient take with fitting production values on the subgenre Australia’s Striborg seems to have specialized in over the last couple of years. The production is both better in a sense and much rawer compared to Unholy Storm. The guitar tone is quite fuzzy and undefined but sits reasonably well with this genre. The drums are produced better but still quite use some additional tweaking. The bass lies prominent in the mix and provides Natassievila much of its heaviness. The artwork, design and lay-out are much better compared to Unholy Storm, in fact it’s a bit reminiscent of the first three records by UK black metallers Hecate Enthroned. With 6 tracks and clocking in at little over a half hour “Iter Lethalis” is a neat little underground black metal album. Natassievila isn’t here to reinvent the wheel and their spin on the genre, while hardly original, is pretty enjoyable. The band’s name Natassievila is ‘Alive Is Satan’ spelled in reverse.
