The demented grind of that demo seems long gone on this "Scavenger" label debut which was supposed to be released by France's Meat 5000 Records, but eventually ended being picked up by their current label. Influences are shifted towards US death metal on this release with the likes of Morbid Angel, Lost Soul and (early) Pyrexia as primary examples. The mammoth riffing is incredible both on guitar and bass, whereas the sudden tempo changes and chord progressions still remind of their straightforward grind past. The drumming isn't quite as intense as it was on their 2001 demo yet it all fits in the bigger scheme of things. The dual vocals are okay but seem to miss their objective as both vocalists sound too similar. The production by the famed CCR Studios (Aborted, Leng Tch'e, Serial Butcher) is very reminiscent of Lost Soul's "Chaostream" or any of the classic Hertz produced albums. Alongside the musical transformation Putrid Inbred has also traded in their classic Carcass/Napalm Death inspired logo, which is just a shame as it was instantly recognizable. Artwork by Alexandr Balinets seems to be funny riff on Behemoth's "The Apostasy" whereas the lay-out and design of the booklet is just poorly developed, amateurishly executed and plain ugly. All things considered "Scavenger" is more than decently executed death metal album if Putrid Inbred put a bit more time in general product presentation their follow-up to this album might just elevate them to a broader audience.
