    Fluke (ep)

Wydane przez Midhir RecordsRok wydania Kraj IrelandNapisał Wouter8Komentarze (0)Scald - FlukeIrish post-grind band Scald have been around since 1993 and this year's "Fluke" EP is a vicious indictment of the global Catholic Church. Revisiting their crust roots Scald will appeal to fans of (early) Pig Destroyer, Benümb and ("World Downfall" era) Terrorizer. The vocal work by Pete Dempsey sounds detached and processed while guitarist Mick Tierney and drummer Paul McCarroll provide the bluntly hammered framework for Dempsey to operate from. When not in processed mode Dempsey reminds of classic punk acts such as Discharge or the Exploited. The EP finishes with a 25 minute, sprawling ambient noise composition that uses captured and processed audio from the "Fluke" sessions and an Italian spoken word monologue. This mini album has a running time in the region of 40 minutes and is issued in a specifically designed 6-panel digifolder with extensive artwork by Unhinged Art. A Eucharist Edition (strictly limited to 500 copies) comes with a unique Scald communion wafer, a promo video for the opening track 'Larva' was also shot and is available from the label's site. While the grind genre is getting increasingly and alarmingly saturated with non-descript bands imitating their inspirations, it's good to see acts such as Scald who give the genre its own unique spin.
