    Chaos in Hell (ep)

'Engulf the Enchantress', 'Jaws Of Death' and 'Chaos In Hell' are along the lines of their 2001 album "Vengeance Ascending" but with notable better production values. Closing track 'The Suffering Church' is the odd man out considering that this was originally written for Unholy Ghost and the difference in style is notable, although both bands essentially play the same genre. Drummer Aantar Lee Coates is quite restrained behind the kit compared to the band's earlier ventures and this gives the tracks more breathing space. Guitarist duo Raymond James and Kelly McLauchlin feed off each other well and the multitude of blistering leads add to the chaotic nature of Diabolic's music. Returning vocalist Paul Ouellette has gained a lot during his absence, most notable is that his vocals are now clearer than before. Recorded at Diet Of Worms with producer Juan "Punchy" Gonzalez (Morbid Angel, Impurity) "Chaos In Hell" comes with an exceptional defined and clear production that puts emphasis on the drums without ever sacrificing any clarity in the guitar department. Although this isn't the same as the classic Diabolic, it's good to see them still carrying on despite all the hardships they've endured. Pick it up, if you can find it.
