    Diminishing Between Worlds ()

Wydane przez Unique Leader RecordsRok wydania Kraj USANapisał Wouter8Komentarze (0)Decrepit Birth - Diminishing Between WorldsSince their 2003 debut "And Time Begins" Decrepit Birth have evolved beyond the Deeds Of Flesh and Hate Eternal clone they were on their debut. Since that time bassist Derek Boyer (now in Suffocation) and session drummer Tim Yeung (now in Divine Heresy) have decamped and the band has opted for a more deliberately paced, technical and general old school approach to their new material. The guitar work is far more complicated, layered and textured with an emphasis on leads and harmonies. There's a notable influence of classic technical death metal acts such as Death, Pestilence and to a lesser extent Atheist or Cynic. Drummer KC Howard still keeps the pedal firmly to the metal but his work behind the kit is far more varied and tasteful in comparison to, for instance, his work on Odious Mortem's "Devouring the Prophecy" debut. Production-wise "Diminishing Between Worlds" is quite similar to "And Time Begins" although this album obviously holds far more clarity and definition in its clear-cut guitar tone. The bass guitar can clearly be heard, which is a good thing, and the drums sound quite natural besides their obvious triggering. Once again sporting high class artwork by the inimitable Dan Seagrave (Benediction, Dismember, Hypocrisy, Malevolent Creation, etc) Decrepit Birth have solidified their position as one of the most promising technical death metal outfits of recent times. "Diminishing Between Worlds" might just be Decrepit Birth's breakthrough album.
