    Scum Terror ()

Wydane przez Self-financedRok wydania Kraj USANapisał Wouter7Komentarze (0)Seraphim Slaughter - Scum TerrorSeemingly an answer to all big-budget, clean produced black metal of the last years New Jersey's Seraphim Slaughter deliver an admirable debut that takes its listener back to the black metal genre's formative days. "Scum Terror" is a crust-punk laced thrashing black metal record that wastes no time and gets straight down to business. It's mean, raw and downright dirty much like the early records of Finland's Impaled Nazarene. The delivery is fast and loose with a pummelling combination of short fast tracks and mood-setting mid-tempo pieces. The humor is quick-witted, dark and possibly offensive, much like the earlier mentioned Impaled Nazarene or to a lesser extent Anal Cunt. The album relies, as implied, more on the punk fraction of the equation - and as such this is more of an angry, old school, bare bones punk album done in a traditional black metal fashion than the other way around. Exactly that's the charm of "Scum Terror" it feels like classic punk acts such as Discharge, Disrupt, the Exploited or Propagandhi are channelled through its black metal assault. Artwork, design and lay-out remind a lot of those punk records of old. Its handdrawn artwork is basic and fittingly primitive. It isn't fancy in any way, but the intent is very direct and clear. The production is typical for the earlier entries in both genres. It is incredibly lo-fi, stripped down and raw. Nevertheless, it fits the record flawlessly. Fans of old school punk and (early) black metal will have a feast with this record.
