On their second album "Delusions" UK dark progressive metal formation To-Mera prove to be more than a one-hit wonder. From the onset its clear that is album is about growth. The addition of a new drummer and keyboardist has led to an increased complexity in both departments. There's slight tribal drumming in ‘the Glory Of A New Day' and overall have the keyboard lines become more cinematic and elaborate. The guitar work by Tom Maclean has become more compact, brutal and technically refined. The jazz interludes take a more prominent place and even more than on "Transcendental" To-Mera alternates acoustic sections with brick heavy electric parts. Julie Kiss' vocals sound far more emotive here and her range and techniques have impressively grown. Especially in the jazz sections Kiss shows her soothing and sensual vocal strengths. The production courtesy of Tower Studios and producer Brett Caldas-Lima is once again outstanding. The album is more warm-sounding and every instrument has its place without pushing away other elements. The guitar has become clearer, direct and heavier compared to "Transcendental". The drums sound much better also, as much of this album is based around the drum kit. Overall, To-Mera sound more together on this record and the songs themselves are more coherent because of the band's increased feeling of togetherness. Artwork, design and lay-out by Eliran Kantor is another impressive facet that adds to the overall experience. It appears "Transcendental" was only the foundation for To-Mera to truly show its potential and now with "Delusions" they prove they are worth every accolade that was thrown their way. If you like your progressive metal dark with a touch of symphonics and serene female vocals, this record is one you can't afford to ignore.
