After 2004's highly acclaimed "XES Haereticum" Belgian black metal elitists Enthroned underwent a turbulent period and another overhaul in their line-up. "Tetra Karcist" is the first effort of the revised line-up and this is without doubt the band's strongest album to date. The tracks on this record are more complex, faster and overall more technical than previous records. Boasting a pristine but fittingly raw production job by Dungeon Studios and long-time producer Harris Johns "Tetra Karcist" takes what Enthroned stands for and then some. With a more complex lyrical concept and a refined and reinvigorated sense of purpose the band is delivering their most frightingly intense, barbarically savage and most concise work to date. Nornagest debuts strong in his position as new frontman and his vocals sound way more natural than Sabathan's strangled demonic rasps ever did. The dual vocal interaction with guitarist Nguaroth and bassist Phorgath also adds to the increased sense of general dynamics in comparison to the band's earlier material. Session drums by former member Alsvid is once again highly recommendable. Artwork, design and lay-out fit flawlessly with the band's new lyrical direction and add an abstract feel to the whole album. "Tetra Karcist" is Enthroned's most mature and ambitious album to date. Be sure to pick up the limited edition digipack as it includes two exclusive bonus tracks.
