    Rougayah's Revenge ()

Wydane przez Self-financedRok wydania Kraj MalaysiaNapisał Wouter6Komentarze (0)Nightshaders - Rougayah's RevengeNightshaders hail from Malaysia and have been around in one form or another since 1996. They split-up in 1998 but reunited in 2006. "Rougayah's Revenge" is the band's first effort since reuniting. The band's sound is quite reminiscent of the Bay Area thrash scene of the late '80s, spearheaded by bands such as Death Angel, Exodus, Metallica and Testament, while occasionally there's some influence from (classic) Iron Maiden to be found as well. Nighshaders aren't very original as to the approach of the genre but with big name bands like Dekapitator, Evile and Municipal Waste not flying the flag of originality either, there's no surprise here. It becomes clear that Nightshaders haven't been around too long in this revised line-up as the dynamics leave a lot to be desired and the riffs aren't all quite of the same standard. The drumming on this record is however one of the better aspects of this demo. In all, it is somewhat reminiscent of Lars Ulrich's drumming on Metallica's seminal "Kill 'em All" debut, but not quite as intense. The production is fairly good with its gritty guitar tone, audible bass lines and high powered drumming. Artwork and lay-out remind a bit of early Sigh on its color scheme. Overall, Nightshaders bring nothing new to the table with "Rougayah's Revenge" – but if you are into some lowbrow old school thrash worship, this demo will fulfil its purpose rather nicely. Hardly groundbreaking at any point Nightshaders has delivered an admirable demo that will appeal to fans of the genre, but will not launch them as contenders outside of their established fanbase in Malaysia.
