On their third album Polish industrial death/black metallers Crionics confidently stride forth in the direction set with their previous album "Armageddon's Evolution". Sounding like a mix between Behemoth, (early) Vader or Morbid Angel and the symphonic edge of bands such as Dimmu Borgir or Vesania "NeuThrone" is a conceptual epos of highly charged, technical death/black metal. Much like their more popular peers in Decapitated or Behemoth, Crionics possess masterful technical chops, high standard songwriting craft and the ability to take a genre and make it their own. More brutal than "Human Error" or "Armageddon's Evolution" this third record sees Crionics confident in their skills and compact in their songwriting, resulting in a record that will establish them as one of the genre's more visionary practitioners. Much more mechanical, and in that sense similar to bands such as Zyklon and Myrkskog, than their peers Crionics differentiate themselves from the usual Polish sound in their industrial atmospherics, dead-on determination and almost machine-like precision. The production by Zed Studio is pristine with a detailed and warm tone for both guitars and bass. Drums and keyboards feature prominently yet the guitars form the basis for Crionics' operations. Artwork, design and lay-out by Michal "Czecha" Czekaj are nothing short of impressive. If you're looking for something else than the popular releases of genre favourites Behemoth, Decapitated or Vader, this is the band for you. Highly recommended.
