The Streams Of the End ()

Wydane przez Debemur Morti Productions/Mystic Arts DistributionRok wydania Kraj FinlandNapisał Wouter7Komentarze (0)October Falls - The Streams Of the EndSolid Scandinavian pagan folk metal, reminiscent of early Borknagar, Vintersorg and to a lesser extent "Shadowthrone" era Satyricon. Being the sole vision of Mikko Lehto with the help of two session musicians for bass and drums; "The Streams Of the End" is a lush and atmospherically rich record that captures everything that makes the folk/pagan metal genre so appealing. Flawless instrumentation combined with the band's mostly acoustic and ambient early beginnings result in contrasting levels of light and dark, warm and cold sections that vocalize the band's fascination with Scandinavian nature and folklore. There are sections that sound heavily influenced by Opeth and Katatonia, but generally October Falls fall into the pagan folk metal category. Fans of the above mentioned acts will find much to like here as all tracks take their time to build climax. This is also the record's strongest point as the songwriting is of incredible high standard. The production is high end with a very distinct and clear-cut guitar tone for both the acoustic and electronic guitars. The drums sound warm and organic and the bass is in there as well. Artwork, design and lay-out are nothing short of impressive; especially the cover artwork by H. Harmaja & Babalon Graphics is stunning. While not revolutionary at any point "The Streams Of the End" is a solid well-written and expertly performed folk black metal album that accentuates the strengths of the genre. "The Streams Of the End" is available in both CD as a 12" edition. Be sure to give this promising act a listen.
