It's surprising that the most Catholic country of Europe delivers the most blasphemous acts in the scene today. Italian trio Necromessiah debut on Blasphemous Underground Productions with "Antiklerical Terroristik Death Squad", a record that will appeal to fans of old school German thrash metal and traditional black metal fans alike. The delivery is fiery and spirited, sounding like the German pioneers of the genre. Despite being a power trio Necromessiah are able to commit a massive sound to tape. The riffing and drumming are quite simple and work in a piledriver like manner to get the band's point across. Each track is direct, compact and to-the-point. There isn't really a stand-out track or signature song on this 10 track offering, but the entire album is of high quality. Lyrics deal with genre-typical subjects such as the aversion towards organised religion, war and apocalyptic scenarios. While Necromessiah aren't reinventing the wheel "Antiklerical Terroristik Death Squad" sounds convincing and strong due to the band's flawless technical execution. The production is actually quite good, which is not always the case with underground black/thrash metal. The guitar tone is earthy, crisp and clear. The drums sound warm, organic and not seem to be triggered too much at any given point. Artwork, design and lay-out are typical of the genre with black-white colors and the cover is drawn by acclaimed underground artist Chris "Thorncross" Moyen. Militant black thrash of the highest order, a potent and violent mix between Aura Noir and Carpathian Forest.
