Rhode Island death metallers Vital Remains have released a number of genre classics over the years, although they only became generally known with their last two offerings 2003's "Dechristianize" and 2007's "Icons Of Evil". "Evil Death Live" is the band's first foray into the DVD format - and although it exclusively focuses on the band's last two records, it is a formidable document of this long-standing institution's impeccable live status. Recorded at Stodola Club in Warsaw, Poland on 24th March 2007 during the European leg of the band's "Icons Of Evil" world tour "Evil Death Live" captures the band in their headbanging, windmilling glory with multiple cameras, giving each member equal screentime. Additionally, this DVD comes with two bootlegs recordings from the band's personal archives. One being Dave Suzuki demonstrating a number of leads from the "Icons Of Evil" album solo, the other a short set capturing Vital Remains live at Mega Club in Poland, although the sound here isn't on par with the main show. Sound is available in Dolby Surround 2.0 and 5.1. On top of that there's a rather candid and interesting interview with Dave Suzuki and Tony Lazaro about the band's past, present and future, Lazaro takes the main role as spokesperson. Other goodies include desktop wallpapers, band history, discography, photo gallery and a number of other neat features. Packaging and lay-out are outstanding and very detailed in execution and composition. As always, limited edition comes with an additional live CD of the main show.
