    Despoilment Of Origin ()

Wydane przez Galactic RecordsRok wydania Kraj UKNapisał Wouter8Komentarze (0)Sarpanitum - Despoilment Of OriginSarpanitum - who take their moniker from the Babylonian mother goddess Sarpanit, the consort of the chief god, Marduk - are being hailed as Birmingham, UK's brightest new stars of technical brutal death metal and for good reason. "Despoilment Of Origin" is strong debut offering, that despite its lack of original ideas will establish the band as a rightful contender in the genre. The dense riffing, storming drumming and tight-knit delivery is very reminiscent of "Black Seeds Of Vengeance" era Nile while structurally, conceptually and vocally Sarpanitum takes more than one cue from "Satanica" era Behemoth, and "Formulas Fatal To the Flesh" era Morbid Angel, respectively. Fleshing out the mythology of Ancient Babylonia, Sumeria and Akkadia in their lyrical concept Sarpanitum are doing something relatively fresh in a genre otherwise clogged by clichés and worn out thematics. Artwork and lay-out by Ed (Infected Disarray) fit in seamlessly with the band's mythological lyrical content and form a nice departure from the usual genre covers. The logo was designed by Belgian/UK based artist Christophe Szpajdel (Emperor, Falkenbach, Horna, Old Man's Child, etc). The production on this debut is nothing short of impressive with a meaty, brick heavy guitar tone that is equally crushing as it is clear, especially during the many leads that grace this record. The drums sound thick, somewhat reminiscent of early Morbid Angel. "Despoilment Of Origin" is powerful statement from a young band that could become the next big thing in the genre in just a few short years if they give the whole a twist their own next time around.
