    Slaughter & Apparatus : A Methodical Overture ()

Wydane przez Century Media RecordsRok wydania Kraj BelgiumNapisał Wouter7Komentarze (0)Aborted - Slaughter & Apparatus : A Methodical OvertureOn their Century Media debut Belgian death metallers Aborted lift themselves out of the melodic metalcore that greatly plagued their previous album "The Archaic Abbatoir" and confidently move headfirst into melodic, semi-technical death metal territory. Boasting in their latest line-up Matty Dupont (Emeth) and session drummer Dave Haley (Psycroptic) it comes as no surprise that is record is a far more technically advanced and overall more brutal affair. Returning to the speed and groove of "Goremageddon" and "Engineering the Dead", respectively; "Slaughter & Apparatus" kicks off with two tracks - 'The Chondrin Enigma' and 'A Methodical Overture' - that present a tight-knit and lively unit despite its heavily revised line-up since its last recorded output. 'Avenious' sees the band slowing down and treading familiar territory with its heavily Carcass influenced slant. Carcass mainman Jeff Walker provides guest vocals on the songs 'An Odious Emanation' and 'A Methodical Overture' also appearing is Hatesphere frontman Jacob Bredahl, both which are an excellent addition. With 2 new guitarists the leads have taken a more central place and are more extensive and detailed compared to the band's earlier records. Sven de Caluwé's vocals are less hardcore than last time around, where he really appeared to mimic Burnt By the Sun vocalist Mike Olender. The addition of keyboards and samples wasn't really necessary but add a nice flow to the record. Design and lay-out were done by Killustrations and fit well with the band's new direction. Once again the album was recorded at Antfarm Studios in Aarhus, Denmark with top producer Tue Madsen. "Slaughter & Apparatus" forms a nice comeback for Aborted after the somewhat disappointing "The Archaic Abbatoir".
