This is the band's second record, since their 2003 debut "Spirits and August Light" and the years separating this record and their debut have done this Finnish band good. Still combining the best of (early) Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity's early aggression with the epic feel of Moonsorrow and an Amorphis like sense for melodicism "Stuck Here On Snakes Way" is a melodic death metal record done right. Omnium Gatherum knows how to write a catchy song and this they display with heavy hitters such as 'Into Sea'. Not merely limiting itself to the expected palette of Scandinavian death metal Omnium Gatherum fuses industrial with bits and pieces of old school thrash metal and an impressive range of vocals ranging from grunts to shrieks and shouts. Granted, the band's style hardly deviates from the genre standards set in stone many moons ago – and as such, they fail to deliver anything truly unheard. Being as it is, "Stuck Here On Snakes Way" is far from a bad record in any shape or form; and as such I can easily see why people are tired of hearing this genre regurgitated over and over again, years past its prime, by bands who didn't stood at its cradle. "Stuck Here On Snakes Way" was recorded and mixed at SouthEast Sounds Studios, Karhula, Finland `06 by Teemu Aalto. Mastered by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers, Helsinki, Finland. Artwork by Olli Lappalainen gives this the aura of a doom metal record. Not the most original thing around, but very well executed all the same.
